What We Do

Amplify Better Narratives

The way we talk about people, communities, and each other can move our work forward or hold it back

We need to work together with people to help animals.

We need to move our thinking forward to do our best work.

This is at the heart of SPARC...

We build and amplify the narratives that are critical to our best work for animals and people, together.

Who Is SPARC For

Who We Support

There are so many of us who work hard for animals.
SPARC is for all of us - staff and volunteers at animal shelters, rescue groups, municipal animal services, veterinary clinics, community organizations, neighborhood networks, national nonprofits, and people caring for pets in communities.

How We Help

People who help animals are often short on time and loaded with demands. New ideas can be tough to implement no matter how important they are. We have created training, guidance, and support programs to give you what you need in the way you need it.

Training that sticks, with new ideas and opportunities to practice.

Tools and Guides with relevant information, examples, and practical steps.

A Community of Practice so you can continuously share and learn in a supportive network of peers.

Evidence-Based Insights to help us all adapt to change and trust that our narratives are moving in the right direction.

Theory of Change

Our work is based on an understanding of how stories, messaging, and narratives impact peoples’ mindsets, and how they can ultimately help us build happier, healthier communities.

Don't Be Judgy!

Using our energy to shame and vilify people undermines our ability to help animals. Let’s drop the judgment and channel our passion into what matters most.

“We had our Gala on Saturday and our raise the paddle appeal portion of the night was about keeping families together. I revised the original draft of the script using SPARC’s approach to systems framing and the appeal set an organization record! People got it. There were tears and reflection as attendees contemplated the challenges facing our community and animals. A big thank you for giving orgs like ours even more confidence (and tools) to tackle the real conversations and issues facing our work.”
